Free Anti Virus Protection

Virus always been a main problem for computer owner. I have seen many of my friend need to reformat their computer because of virus attack. Well mostly they dont use any antivirus and some of them use and still being attack :(

As W32.blaster, Sobig, Trojan, and earlier virus threats have shown, the Internet is not a terribly safe place to connect your PC. Besides updating Windows and your Internet applications regularly, u need to install firewall and antivirus. These 2 program are the main defence for your PC.

If you plan to choose which antivirus u want to install. U need to make sure they already pass the test from 2 organizations such as Virus Bulletin and ICSA Labs. To pass the tests administered by these labs, an antivirus utility must, among other things, stop all viruses known to exist in the wild, on demand (during manual or scheduled scans of the hard disk and memory) and on access (using memory-resident shields to block viruses from loading into memory).

Today, there are so many free anti virus on the net but im gonna recommending only 2 anti virus, AVG and Avast!.

Grisoft’s AVG Anti-Virus System:

AVG passed Virus Bulletin’s June 2003 VB100 Windows XP test (the most recent available at press time) after failing previous attempts; it also passed ICSA’s June 2003 test. AVG includes memory-resident scanners, plus e-mail scanners for Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and Exchange client.

Alwil’s Avast 4 Home Edition:

Avast likewise passed both the VB100 and ICSA tests, and it offers memory-resident scanning. But Avast surpasses AVG by scanning both Outlook and standard Internet (POP3/SMTP) mail, making it a good choice if you use a non-Microsoft mail client. Amazingly, Alwil also offers support via e-mail for its free product.

I have use AVG before but from my experience, AVG only detect and it not gonna recover or delete some virus (Well that was my experience .. dont know if it working well with other people). So that why i switch to Avast! For now everything work perfectly and Avast! has been protect my PC from virus since the first day i install it :) So if u wanna choose .. im will suggest choosing Avast!
